When looking at The Conjuring reviews - as opposed to Red 2 reviews and R.I.P.D. reviews - it's not hard to see how the "based on a true story" horror film came out on top this weekend.
Don't feel too badly for the minions, though, as they continued to rake in the dough, coming in second with $25 million.
The Fruitvale Station reviews were extremely favorable... but even more favorable was the performance of this film in its second week in theaters.
Despite being shown in only 34 locations, it brought in an impressive $742,000, good for for an average of $22,000 per theater; that marked the second highest average of the weekend.
Highest average went to Art of Killing, which made $28,0000 at the one theater it was shown. Here is a breakdown of the Top 10:
The Conjuring -- $41.5 million
Despicable Me 2 -- $25 million
Turbo -- $21.5 million
Grown Ups 2 -- $20 million
Red 2 -- $18.5 million
